Principle Cleaning Services has received a prestigious Golden Service Award for its work for Carillion and the Sports Complex at the University of Hertfordshire, only just four months after being awarded a £1.7 million contract for the vast majority of the University Estate at the De Havilland and College Lane Campus.

As outright winners in the category of Best Cleaned Premises - Educational Establishment, North London based Principle Cleaning, now in its 20th year, beat stiff competition to become one of 77 finalists from across the UK and Ireland who had to undergo a rigorous site visit by one of the three official judges. The Awards, which provide a benchmark for quality and a means of identifying an organisation as a leader in the field, were once again THE social highlight of the cleaning industry.

Chief Executive Douglas Cooke said, 'This is great achievement for the company and particularly special in our 20th year. I would like to thank all the staff who have worked so hard to make this contract successful and I am extremely proud that they have been recognised for delivering high cleaning standards for the University.'
Principle Cleaning has held the contract for a number of years to clean the residential building and the Prestigious Sports Village at the De Havilland Campus, current home to the Saracens rugby training camp and after a rigorous tender process is now responsible for the remainder. The company has applied innovations to the contract such as the purchase of a mega electric van specifically for the contract, biometric time and attendance systems and computerised quality monitoring to enhance staff attendance and performance.

'It quickly became clear who the 16 winners were,' said Paul Pearce, Judge Chair for the Golden Service Awards 2009. 'As judges, innovation, staff management, training and client relationship were among the main criteria which we assessed. Each of the winners of the 15 categories and the overall winner's site received top marks across the board for clearly providing the gold standard in all of these criteria.' Paul added.
